Ripple continues to accelerate the development of its technology to enhance efficiency in digital payment systems. With its advantages of high transaction speed and low costs, Ripple’s technology is increasingly attracting interest from various global financial institutions.

According to a report from Ripple.com, on February 10, 2025, Ripple a leading provider of digital asset infrastructure for the financial sector announced a strategic partnership with Unicâmbio, a major currency exchange service provider in Portugal. This collaboration aims to accelerate cross-border transactions between Portugal and Brazil through Ripple Payments, leveraging digital assets to enhance speed and reduce the costs of international transactions.

This partnership marks a significant milestone for Ripple, as it introduces its payment services in Portugal for the first time while expanding its operational reach in Europe. With Ripple’s blockchain technology, Unicâmbio’s corporate clients can now transfer funds and settle payments within minutes, reducing the challenges commonly faced in conventional transfer systems.

Cassie Craddock, Ripple’s Managing Director for the UK and Europe, described the partnership with Unicâmbio as a key milestone in Ripple’s European expansion. Portugal, with its rapidly growing crypto ecosystem, is seen as a strategic location for implementing Ripple’s payment solutions. She also emphasized that the connectivity between Portugal’s and Brazil’s payment systems will accelerate cross-border transactions, lower costs, and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Meanwhile, Adriana Jerónimo, Executive Board Member of Unicâmbio, highlighted the strong economic and cultural ties between Portugal and Brazil, which drive high financial transaction volumes between the two nations. She stated that the adoption of blockchain technology in Unicâmbio’s payment system has revolutionized cross-border remittances, enabling near-instant transactions at lower costs compared to traditional methods, ultimately providing tangible benefits to customers.

This partnership further strengthens Ripple’s position in Brazil, where the company has been collaborating with major financial institutions such as Travelex Bank since 2022 and Mercado Bitcoin, the largest crypto exchange in Latin America, which officially joined Ripple’s network late last year.

Overall, this collaboration not only expands Ripple’s influence in Europe but also enhances the efficiency and speed of cross-border transactions between Portugal and Brazil, bringing significant benefits to businesses and customers in both regions.
