Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has received Rp 6.62 trillion in funds recovered through state financial rescue efforts carried out by the Task Force for Forest and Mining Area Enforcement (Satgas PKH).

The handover ceremony took place at the Attorney General’s Office building on Wednesday (December 24, 2025). The funds were symbolically transferred by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa at the Circular Building of the Attorney General’s Office, with President Prabowo Subianto in attendance.

Prior to the event, the lobby of the Attorney General’s Office drew public attention. Stacks of Rp 100,000 banknotes were neatly arranged, wrapped in plastic, and lined up to form a corridor stretching from the lobby to the Special Crimes Building (Pidsus).

The display symbolized the tangible results of the state’s success in reclaiming forest areas and plantation lands that had long been problematic.

The Rp 6.62 trillion transfer represents part of the fifth phase of reclaimed forest areas, covering a total of 896,969.143 hectares.

Overall, during the past 10 months, Satgas PKH has recovered plantation land spanning 4,081,560.58 hectares—exceeding the initial target by more than 400 percent. The estimated indicative value of the reclaimed land is believed to surpass Rp 150 trillion.

In addition to securing state finances, Satgas PKH has also transferred the management of reclaimed forest areas to relevant ministries and institutions, totaling 2,482,220.343 hectares.

Of this amount, 1,708,033.583 hectares of oil palm plantation land have been handed over to PT Agrinas Palma Nusantara for management.

Meanwhile, 688,427 hectares of conservation forest areas have been transferred to relevant ministries for ecological restoration.

An additional 81,793 hectares located within Tesso Nilo National Park have been designated for reforestation.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the recovered funds could be utilized to strengthen the government’s fiscal position, particularly by reducing the budget deficit.

He explained that the funds could either be used to lower the deficit, set aside as reserves, or allocated for spending in the following fiscal year, with the primary focus remaining on the deficit outlook.

However, Purbaya emphasized that the specific use of the funds would still be discussed internally within the Ministry of Finance.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining the fiscal deficit below the 3 percent threshold of gross domestic product (GDP).

According to him, the additional funds provide the government with greater flexibility to keep the deficit safely under the 3 percent limit.

For context, as of November 2025, Indonesia’s state budget deficit stood at Rp 560.3 trillion, equivalent to 2.35 percent of GDP.
