The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it is carrying out a sixth wave of attacks in retaliation for the bombings conducted by the United States (US) and Israel against Iran. Explosions were reported to have been heard as far as Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Doha in Qatar.

Citing reports from Al Jazeera and AFP on Sunday (1/3/2026), Iran stated that it had launched a large-scale missile and drone assault targeting Israeli and US military bases across the Arab region. The IRGC claimed that 27 US bases were targeted, along with Israel’s Tel Nof Airbase, the Israeli military headquarters at HaKirya in Tel Aviv, and a major defense industrial complex in the same city.

Iranian forces indicated that they would implement firm and varied retaliatory measures, delivering successive strikes described as unavoidable responses. Following the announcement of the attacks, explosions were reported in multiple locations.

AFP reported that loud blasts were heard early Sunday near Erbil International Airport, which hosts US-led coalition forces in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan region. Thick black smoke was seen rising from the airport area.

On Saturday (28/2), US-led coalition forces reportedly intercepted and shot down several explosive-laden missiles and drones over Erbil.

The Israeli military said it was responding to the Iranian missile attacks. Air raid sirens were activated across central Israel and parts of the occupied West Bank.

“Sirens were sounded in several areas across the country following the identification of missiles launched from Iran toward the State of Israel,” the military stated, adding that the air force was operating to intercept and strike threats if necessary.

Additionally, explosions were reported in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and in Manama, the capital of Bahrain. Air raid sirens were also activated in Kuwait. These countries near Iran are known to host US troops and military equipment.
