2025 Big Indonesian Banks Profit Report: BCA vs BRI vs Mandiri vs BNI - Which Is the Most Profitable?

Major Indonesian banks with core capital exceeding Rp70 trillion have released their financial performance for the past year. The results varied, with some banks recording net profit growth while others faced performance pressures. Based on data compiled by Bisnis, BCA posted the highest profit at Rp57.5 trillion. It was followed by state-owned BRI with Rp57.13 trillion and Bank Mandiri with Rp56.3 trillion. Meanwhile, BNI recorded Rp20.11 trillion in net profit. In terms of growth, in addition to recording the largest profit, BBCA also achieved the highest profit growth among major banks at 4.9% year-on-year (YoY).

 

On the other hand, several banks experienced performance pressure during the year, including BNI and BRI, which recorded declines in net profit.

 

Previously, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) stated that global conditions remain challenging and continue to affect banking performance in 2025. Despite ongoing uncertainty, OJK projected that bank lending would remain positive throughout the year. As of December 2025, banking credit growth reached 9.69% YoY, within Bank Indonesia’s projection range of 8%-11% YoY. Meanwhile, third-party funds (DPK) grew by 13.83% YoY. Below is a summary of the performance of major banks (BCA, BRI, Mandiri, and BNI) throughout 2025:

 

BCA

PT Bank Central Asia Tbk. (BBCA) recorded a 4.9% increase in net profit to Rp57.5 trillion in 2025. On a consolidated basis, BCA’s loans grew 7.7% YoY to Rp993 trillion as of December 2025, with an average annual loan growth of 10.8%. Lending was distributed across sectors such as manufacturing, trade, restaurants, hotels, and households. BCA also reported a 13.1% YoY increase in current accounts and CASA to Rp1,045 trillion. By December 2025, total DPK rose 10.2% YoY to Rp1,249 trillion. Transaction frequency increased 17% YoY to 42 billion transactions, with a peak of nearly 300 million transactions processed in a single day. Mobile and internet banking transactions rose 19% YoY. Net interest income grew 4.1% YoY, while non-interest income increased 16% YoY, resulting in total operating income growth of 5.4% YoY. An improved cost-to-income ratio (CIR) supported net profit growth of 4.9% YoY to Rp57.5 trillion.

 

BRI

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBRI) posted consolidated net profit of Rp57.13 trillion in 2025. According to financial statements published in Harian Bisnis Indonesia (Thursday, 26/2/2026), the profit was supported by interest income of Rp207.78 trillion, up 4.27% from Rp199.27 trillion in 2024. In the previous year, BRI recorded Rp60.3 trillion in net profit. Interest expenses rose 1.20% to Rp57.28 trillion. Nevertheless, net interest income increased 5.52% to Rp150.50 trillion. Including insurance service income, total net interest and insurance income reached Rp151.79 trillion, up 5.54%. Throughout 2025, BRI maintained its intermediation expansion, with total loans and Islamic financing reaching Rp1,517.07 trillion, growing 12.67% from 2024. Loans amounted to Rp1,460.72 trillion, up 12.5%, while Islamic financing reached Rp56.35 trillion, rising 12.9%. Third-party funds totaled Rp1,466.84 trillion, growing 7.42%.

 

Bank Mandiri

PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. (BMRI) recorded profit attributable to owners of Rp56.3 trillion in 2025, up 0.93% from Rp55.78 trillion. Loans reached Rp1,895 trillion, increasing 13.4% YoY. Third-party funds stood at Rp2,106 trillion, up 23.9% YoY, with low-cost funds growing 12.6% to Rp1,431 trillion. Loan growth was evenly distributed across business segments, including MSME loans, which grew 4.88% despite industry slowdown. Net interest income rose 4.38% YoY to Rp106 trillion, and non-interest income increased 14.5% to Rp48.5 trillion. The bank-only NPL ratio was 0.96%, with a CAR of 20.4%. Total assets grew 16.6% YoY to Rp2,829.95 trillion. Net interest margin (NIM) stood at 4.89%, lower than 5.15% at the end of 2024.

 

BNI

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BBNI) posted net profit of Rp20.11 trillion through December 2025, down 7.15% YoY from Rp21.66 trillion. Interest income rose 4.22% YoY to Rp69.39 trillion, while interest expenses increased 11.33% to Rp29.06 trillion. Net interest income reached Rp40.33 trillion, slightly declining 0.36%. Loans grew 15.94% YoY to Rp899.53 trillion from Rp775.87 trillion. Third-party funds increased 29.21% to Rp1,040.83 trillion. The capital adequacy ratio declined from 21.40% to 20.66%. Gross NPL improved to 1.93% from 1.97%, and net NPL fell to 0.70% from 0.74%. NIM decreased to 3.80% from 4.24%, while the operating expense to operating income ratio rose to 72.94% from 70.05%.
