The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has added another fund placement in the banking sector amounting to Rp 76 trillion on November 10, 2025.
This additional funding was allocated to Bank Mandiri, BNI, and BRI with Rp 25 trillion each, and Rp 1 trillion to Bank Jakarta.
In fact, earlier on September 12, 2025, the MoF had already placed Rp 200 trillion in five banks. However, as of October 22, only about 84 percent or Rp 167.6 trillion had been distributed as loans.
So why did Purbaya increase the fund placement in banks even though the previous allocation has not yet been fully channeled?
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa explained that the additional placement was made because the growth of bank credit and base money (M0) slowed in October 2025.
In October, banking credit grew 7.36 percent year-on-year, slowing from 7.70 percent the month before. Meanwhile, base money growth dropped to 7.8 percent, down sharply from 13.3 percent in the previous month.
“(Base money) grew 13 percent in September but fell again to 7 percent in October. I said, that means it’s still not enough. So I added another Rp 76 trillion into the economy last Friday. This gives the economy an extra push,” he said at The Westin Jakarta on Thursday (Nov 20, 2025).
It is hoped that this additional government placement will increase banking liquidity and make it easier for banks to distribute credit.
This way, government funds can circulate into various parts of the economy, enabling the national economy to accelerate further.
“So I maintain economic conditions so that there is room for continuous growth. If there isn’t enough stimulus, we look for more, we add more. So don’t be afraid,” he emphasized.
In addition, the government is providing several economic stimulus programs, including temporary direct cash assistance (BLTS) with a budget of Rp 31.5 trillion.
The BLT is given at Rp 900,000 per beneficiary household (KPM) for three months, covering 35.05 million beneficiaries.
The government is also offering transportation discounts for the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holiday period, with a budget of Rp 180 billion.
The transportation incentives include a 30 percent discount on train tickets, a 20 percent discount on basic sea transportation fares, free (100 percent discount) port service fees for ferry crossings, and discounted airline tickets.
The government is also launching an internship program for university graduates with a budget of Rp 1.37 trillion for 2025 and 2026.
“So in the fourth quarter, our economy will grow by 5.6 to 5.7 percent. I will make sure that happens. That’s why I’m going from place to place ensuring our programs can run and that our economy grows faster,” he concluded.
