DIGIVESTASI - Elon Musk, the third richest man in the world, arrived at the VVIP terminal of Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on Sunday morning (May 19, 2024), at 08:00 WITA. Upon getting off the plane, Musk met and greeted Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. 

Elon's plan to come to Indonesia is to launch Starlink, as well as to be a speaker at the 10th World Water Forum in 2024. This was conveyed by Luhut. 
“There will be a Starlink launch with some of our ministers, the Minister of Health, the Minister of Information and Communication, and the Minister of KP,” Luhut said. Based on records, satellite Internet already has two operating licenses in Indonesia, namely for VSAT and Retail Internet Service Provider (ISP) targeting end consumers. 

So how rich is Elon Musk today? 
The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX is ranked third with a wealth of $196.3 billion or equivalent to around Rp 3,133 trillion, according to Forbes' real-time billionaire list on Sunday (May 19, 2024). His wealth is lower than Jeff Benzos, Bernard Arnault and his family. 

By 2023, Tesla's founder will be the richest man in the world. However, his assets have plummeted as Tesla's shares have fallen. Apart from Tesla and Space X, he is also listed as the founder of four other companies. Elon Musk is listed as owning 12% of Tesla, but has pledged more than half of his shares as collateral for personal loans of up to $3.5 billion.  

In early 2024, a Delaware judge invalidated Musk's 2018 agreement that granted options worth an additional 9% of Tesla shares. Forbes has reduced his options by 50% pending Musk's appeal. At the same time, he founded SpaceX in 2002. The company is valued at nearly $180 billion after a takeover bid in December 2023 for up to $750 million. For your information, the value of SpaceX shares increased fivefold in four years. 

In 2022, Elon Musk caught the world's attention when he bought Twitter for $44 billion after canceling previous purchase plans. He owns about 74% of the company, which is currently called X.

Forbes estimates that Musk's stake in X is now worth nearly 70% less than what he paid based on Fidelity investors' valuation of the company in December 2023.
