The name Ciliandra Fangiono may not be widely recognized in Indonesia, but he holds the title of the youngest billionaire on Forbes’ list of Indonesia’s 50 richest people.
At 48 years old, Ciliandra has secured a prestigious spot with a total wealth of US$ 2.4 billion, equivalent to approximately Rp 39.18 trillion.
Forbes' list of Indonesia’s 50 richest people is typically dominated by veteran entrepreneurs, with an average age ranging from 60 to 80 years old. However, Ciliandra has broken through these ranks at a relatively young age.
He first entered Forbes’ list of Indonesia’s 40 richest people in 2009, and for 13 years, no younger billionaire has surpassed his wealth.
Ciliandra Fangiono serves as the CEO of First Resources, a company that manages hundreds of thousands of hectares of palm plantations and multiple palm oil processing plants. A significant portion of his wealth comes from this industry.
First Resources is a Singapore-listed palm oil company with plantations in Indonesia. The Fangiono family holds a majority stake in the company, which was founded more than two decades ago by his father, Martias Fangiono.
Before joining his family business, Ciliandra worked in Merrill Lynch’s investment banking division in Singapore. He graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Senior Economics degree and was awarded the PriceWaterhouse Book Prize for his academic achievements.
Ciliandra’s fortune saw a substantial increase after his family announced in 2021 that their other palm oil company, FAP Agri, was being developed under the leadership of his sister, Wirastuty Fangiono.
When he first entered Indonesia’s 40 richest list in 2009, his wealth was estimated at US$ 710 million or around Rp 10.9 trillion (adjusted for the current exchange rate).
By 2020, his net worth had risen to US$ 1.1 billion (Rp 16.7 trillion) and continued to climb to US$ 1.8 billion (Rp 27.3 trillion) in 2021. Now, in 2025, his fortune has reached US$ 2.4 billion, solidifying his position as one of Indonesia’s wealthiest figures.
