President-elect Prabowo Subianto is expected to highlight food assistance programs, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) initiative and Village Cooperatives (Kopdes), in his speech at the 2025 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) on Tuesday (August 16).
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Habiburokhman, stated that these programs have received positive responses from communities across various regions, including his electoral district in East Jakarta.
“The public enthusiasm is extraordinary. The designated kitchens for this program in East Jakarta are already at full capacity. I am confident that we will soon meet, and even exceed, the set quota,” Habiburokhman told reporters on Friday (August 15, 2025).
He added that the Independence Day commemoration is the perfect moment to accelerate the implementation of these programs. “We ask for prayers so that all these programs can run more smoothly,” he said.
Prabowo’s speech at the 2025 Annual Session of the MPR is believed to serve as an initial signal of his new administration’s policy direction, particularly regarding the implementation of priority programs promised during the campaign period.
For the first time, President Prabowo Subianto will also deliver the Budget Statement and the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN) during a plenary session of the DPR RI on Friday (August 15, 2025).
This annual session is seen as an important moment, not only to understand the fiscal policy direction for the coming year but also as an early indication of the 8th President’s fiscal leadership style in his first year in office.
Traditionally, the Budget Statement outlines the basic macroeconomic assumptions, targets for state revenue and expenditure, projected budget deficits, financing plans, and national development priorities.
The government’s flagship programs—such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), Village Cooperatives, Food Self-Sufficiency, Danantara, and others—are also expected to be highlighted.
In addition, the President typically links fiscal policy directions to global economic conditions, domestic challenges, and the government’s strategies to stimulate economic growth.
