The Directorate General of Land Transportation under the Ministry of Transportation conducted a sudden inspection at the Xanh SM (Green SM) taxi pool in Bekasi, West Java. This action was taken following a train accident incident at Bekasi Timur Station.
According to Antara, the Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, stated that the inspection was carried out to ensure that the implementation of the Public Transportation Company Safety Management System (SMK PAU) complies with existing regulations.
He explained that public transportation operations must meet various safety requirements as stipulated under SMK PAU. Therefore, the inspection aimed to verify that all these aspects were properly implemented, including vehicle checks prior to operation and the competence as well as health condition of drivers.
Aan noted that the inspection targeted the Green SM Bekasi pool because it serves as the operational base for vehicles suspected to be involved in the incident. The evaluation focused on administrative completeness, vehicle roadworthiness, fleet operational readiness, and other safety-related aspects.
He added that the objective was to ensure that the company’s safety management system has been properly implemented. Initial findings revealed several issues that require further investigation.
Aan also mentioned that a follow-up inspection will be conducted at the main Green SM pool in Kemayoran, Jakarta, to obtain a more comprehensive evaluation.
In addition, the Directorate General of Land Transportation will coordinate with the police and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) regarding the alleged involvement of a vehicle in the collision between the Cikarang commuter line and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train.
Meanwhile, the Director of Road Transport Facilities and Safety at the Directorate General, Yusuf Nugroho, who led the inspection, stated that this activity is part of monitoring the implementation of SMK PAU. The supervision refers to Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 85 of 2018 concerning the Safety Management System for Public Transportation Companies.
Yusuf explained that in the event of an incident, the Directorate General of Land Transportation has the authority to conduct audits and inspections through observation and monitoring processes.
He emphasized that the results of these audits and inspections will serve as the basis for recommendations, including improvements to the safety system or administrative sanctions if violations are found.
Such sanctions may include written warnings, suspension of operational permits, or revocation of licenses, depending on the severity of the violation.
