Vivo recently released its latest operating system called Origin OS 4, which is based on Android 14 and features various new functions and a fresh user interface (UI) design.

Origin OS 4 enhances performance by optimizing app responsiveness, achieved through the use of virtual graphics cards that enable faster app operation. Vivo claims that this OS can reduce app opening and closing times by up to 36% and improve frame rate stability by 70%.

One of the advantages of Origin OS 4 is its ability to efficiently manage on-screen tasks. This is achieved by intelligently allocating resources from the CPU and GPU and stopping unnecessary power consumption.

In terms of visual improvements, Vivo has introduced more than 2,000 redesigned icons to enhance the user experience. Additionally, they have introduced the exclusive Vivo Sans font for the entire system, UI effects that focus on clarity, and lock screen customizations.

Origin OS 4 also comes with Vivo Smart Car 4.0, a service similar to Android Auto but not available in China. With this feature, users can connect their devices to vehicles that support Android Auto or Vivo Smart Car 4.0.

However, some special features are exclusive to China and may not be released globally, such as the new AI-powered Blue Heart Jr V assistant and Family Health, which allows tracking of smart devices of other family members in a neat widget.

Vivo has announced that Origin OS 4 will be available for existing devices and can be used starting at the end of 2023. Unfortunately, this operating system is specifically designed for phones sold in China. International versions of Vivo phones will continue to use the Funtouch 14 operating system.

The first devices expected to run Origin OS 4 include Vivo X Fold2, X Flip, X90, X90 Pro, X90 Pro+, as well as iQOO 11, iQOO 11S, and iQOO 11 Pro. Additionally, the upcoming Vivo X100 and iQOO 12 series are also expected to use Origin OS 4.
