Amazon has agreed to use Microsoft 365 services with a subscription cost of approximately IDR 15.72 trillion or USD 1 billion for about 1 million users over a period of roughly 5 years. Amazon initially used locally-installed Microsoft Office on their servers, but they are now transitioning to Microsoft 365's cloud services. While Amazon operates Amazon Web Services (AWS), they do not provide software-as-a-service for office workers, a service offered by Microsoft 365.

The office software market was valued at around USD 24.45 billion in 2022 and is expected to grow to USD 37.06 billion by 2028. Microsoft 365 competes with Google Workspace, which dominates approximately 50% of the market.

Furthermore, Amazon, particularly through AWS, is focused on developing artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, has asked all business units within AWS to develop generative AI technology. Amazon sees AI as a way to save costs, enhance operational efficiency, and boost employee productivity. This AI initiative is considered a core element of the future customer experience Amazon intends to offer. CEOs of other technology companies, such as Apple, Google, and Meta, are also highlighting the use of AI technology in their products and services.
