Muzani Reveals: MBG is More Than Free Meals, It's a Multi-Billion Investment

The Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani, stated that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program is not merely about providing food but represents a significant investment for the nation.
“We should be grateful for government programs like MBG. This program is not just about giving meals but also serves as a major investment for the country,” Muzani said during the MPR’s annual address on Friday (August 15, 2025).
Muzani further emphasized that MBG is an effective initiative to address the issue of malnutrition.
“We know that malnutrition is a serious problem in our nation, but with this program, the government ensures that children receive nutritious food,” he added.
The MBG Program is an initiative by the Indonesian government, planned to be launched to provide free nutritious meals to students, particularly school children.
Its primary targets are school students, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers, aiming to reduce stunting, improve children’s nutrition, and support their learning process.
