DIGIVESTASI - Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries (Memparekurah), said that the government always conducts an impact study before taking certain actions.

Regarding the plan to increase value added tax (VAT) by 12%, Sandiaga assessed that this would not cause concern. One of them is that the tourism business and creative industry will not be affected.

As quoted by Antara: "(The VAT rate increase) we will do it gradually and God willing, this policy will not cause too much disruption," Sandy said on Wednesday (March 27).

Sandiaga explained that before taking a policy, the government will make sure to consider all the impacts of the policy in order to take more targeted and effective actions. In this case, the impact of the VAT increase on the tourism sector and the creative industry.

Previously, PHRI (Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association) issued a statement estimating that the VAT rate increase to 12% would not cause major concerns because there has been a gradual process of gradual increase since the decision in 2022.
