DIGIVESTASI - The Directorate of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation has issued tips for safe driving in oncoming traffic to avoid fatal accidents such as the one that occurred at Jakarta Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road Kilometer 58 earlier this week.

Hendro Sugiatno, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Transportation, said as the government imposes a two-way traffic rule on the Trans-Java Toll Road during the Eid al-Fitr traffic period, these safety precautions should be strictly adhered to. The goal is to smoothen the traffic flow in both directions.

He gave tips on ensuring the vehicle is in good condition and fully fueled when traveling the reverse route. Drivers should also make sure their vehicles stay in the far left lane unless they pass other vehicles. "If there are travelers in the oncoming lane, make sure your vehicle is in good condition and the tank is full.

If there is more than one oncoming lane, always stay in the far left lane, except when passing." Hendra said in a written statement, Tuesday (April 9, 2024).

Next Tip: If your vehicle is experiencing damage, stop in the far left lane and immediately contact the service center for assistance. Also make sure the speed of the vehicle is in accordance with the speed determined at the backflow location.
