Indonesia continues to prove its attractiveness in the realm of foreign investment. According to the latest report from the UNCTAD World Investment Report 2023, Indonesia has successfully secured the second position as the largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the ASEAN region in 2022.

This remarkable achievement is supported by a significant increase in the amount of FDI flowing into Indonesia. The report notes that the total FDI value across the ASEAN region in 2022 reached $222.56 billion, with a growth rate of 4.58% compared to the previous year.

Singapore leads the list as the largest recipient of FDI in ASEAN, with a total of $141.21 billion. Meanwhile, Indonesia has surpassed Vietnam to claim the second position with FDI worth $21.96 billion, while Vietnam ranks third with $17.9 billion, and Malaysia takes the fourth spot with $16.93 billion.

On the other hand, Timor Leste received the smallest amount of FDI in the region, totaling only $262.45 million. Brunei Darussalam is the sole ASEAN country experiencing negative FDI, with a value of -$292.41 million. Negative FDI indicates a withdrawal of investment or the reverse of investment.

This report provides a positive signal for Indonesia's economy and demonstrates the high confidence of foreign investors in the growth potential and economic stability of the country.
