DIGIVESTASI - Ministry of Manpower Reports 63,947 Workers Laid Off Between January and October 2024, The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) through the One Employment Data system has reported that a total of 63,947 workers experienced termination of employment (layoffs) from January to October 2024. The DKI Jakarta province recorded the highest number of workers laid off during this period.
"The number of workers who were laid off from January to October 2024 is recorded at 63,947," according to a statement quoted from the official Kemnaker website on Sunday (November 17, 2024).
The data shows that 14,501 workers in DKI Jakarta were laid off, accounting for 22.68% of the total layoffs in Indonesia. "The highest number of layoffs came from DKI Jakarta, which accounted for 22.68% of the total layoffs recorded," added Kemnaker.
In addition to DKI Jakarta, Central Java province also reported significant numbers with 12,489 workers laid off, or about 19.53% of the total layoffs. Banten province ranked third with 10,702 workers laid off, contributing 16.74%.
Other provinces with notable layoffs include West Java with 8,508 workers, East Java with 3,694 workers, and Yogyakarta with 1,245 workers affected. Meanwhile, Bangka Belitung recorded 1,894 workers laid off, Central Sulawesi with 1,812 workers, Southeast Sulawesi with 1,156 workers, and Riau with 1,068 workers.
North Maluku and West Sulawesi were the provinces with the fewest layoffs, with just 15 and 10 workers laid off, respectively, during the period from January to October 2024.
The One Employment Data system aims to manage labor data generated by central and regional agencies in accordance with the principles of One Data Indonesia.
