The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) revealed that the potential economic losses due to online gambling (Judol) could reach up to IDR 1,000 trillion by the end of 2025 if firm and continuous interventions are not implemented. This statement was made by Alexander Sabar, Director General of Digital Space Supervision at Komdigi, during the launch and socialization event of the “Judi Pasti Rugi” campaign vehicle at the Komdigi office courtyard in Central Jakarta on Thursday (May 15, 2025).

According to Alexander, data from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) indicates that without intervention against online gambling, the potential losses from this practice could amount to around IDR 1,000 trillion by the end of 2025.

Alexander emphasized that the widespread online gambling practices pose a serious threat to Indonesian society. He pointed out that the impact of online gambling not only causes economic losses but also seriously endangers the future of Indonesia’s younger generation.

He further explained that online gambling has eroded productivity, devastated family economies, and damaged the prospects of the younger generation.

To combat this issue, Komdigi has taken concrete actions, including continuously cutting access to and blocking online gambling websites.

Between October 2024 and May 2025, around 1.3 million online gambling content items have been blocked, with the majority—about 1.2 million—originating from gambling sites and IP addresses, followed by advertisements on various social media platforms.

Furthermore, Komdigi continues to strengthen cross-sector collaboration with law enforcement agencies, electronic system providers, and promotes public participation through the reporting service at aduankonten.id. These efforts are crucial in eradicating online gambling practices.

Regarding collaboration with electronic system providers, Alexander praised PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk for initiating the “Judi Pasti Rugi” campaign using vehicles that will tour across Indonesia. He stated that combating online gambling is not just about prohibition but also involves educating the public.

This activity is one of the initiatives aimed at providing education to the entire community, especially those in areas that might not have adequate access to information through online media.
