DIGIVESTASI - New Year’s Eve 2025: MRT Jakarta Offers IDR 1 Fare and Adjusts Operating Hours, PT MRT Jakarta is offering a special fare of IDR 1 for passengers on New Year’s Eve 2025, along with changes to operating hours for two days, December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2025.

“This adjustment is made based on a decree from the Head of the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency,” said Ahmad Pratomo, Head of the Corporate Secretariat Division at PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), in Jakarta on Monday.

Ahmad explained that the IDR 1 fare is part of the New Year celebration. On December 31, 2024, the MRT will operate from 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM, and on January 1, 2025, the hours will be 12:00 AM–2:00 AM and 5:00 AM–12:00 AM.

Adjusted Train Schedules

Ahmad added that the train schedules have been adjusted for this period. On December 31, during peak hours from 5:00–7:00 AM and 5:00–7:00 PM, the waiting time will be five minutes, while off-peak hours will have a 10-minute interval. For January 1, 2025, between 12:00–1:00 AM, the waiting time will be five minutes, while from 1:00–2:00 AM and 5:00 AM–12:00 AM, it will be 10 minutes.

This adjustment is only applicable for the two days mentioned, with MRT operations returning to normal on January 2, 2025. Additional measures have been prepared to handle increased passenger numbers, including deploying more personnel, stocking additional travel cards, and providing more card readers at stations.

Expected Surge in Passenger Numbers During Year-End Holidays

Tuhiyat, President Director of PT MRT Jakarta, predicts a 4% increase in passenger numbers during the year-end holidays compared to the same period last year, projecting a total of 2,147,705 passengers.

“This increase is calculated based on patterns of passenger growth and decline during weekdays and weekends in October 2024, as well as trends from previous years,” he explained.

During the Christmas travel period, December 25–26, passenger numbers are expected to reach 142,000, a 12% increase compared to 2023. For New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2025, the passenger count is projected to reach 214,000, an 18% increase from the previous year’s New Year celebrations.
