DIGIVESTASI - A number of jobs are expected to grow rapidly in the coming years, influenced by digitalization, inflation, and the industry's efforts to reduce emissions. According to the World Economic Forum's report on the Future of Jobs 2025, several jobs predicted to see an increase in demand include big data specialists, fintech engineers, and AI and machine learning experts. Additionally, several other jobs are also expected to experience growth.
The report highlights that increased digital access is a key factor driving the rapid development of these jobs. Other contributing factors include rising living costs, inflation, efforts to reduce carbon emissions, and a focus on labor and social issues.
Technology, particularly AI, plays a significant role in this business transformation. AI and information processing technologies contribute up to 86% to the upcoming business changes. Moreover, robots and autonomous systems contribute 58%, while energy generation, storage, and distribution impact up to 41%.
As digital transformation progresses, workers will need to adapt and meet the needs of businesses with relevant skills. Therefore, the core skills required will be related to managing technology, especially in AI and big data, which are expected to be highly sought after as job opportunities increase.
Each job sector will require different skills. AI and big data management skills will be in high demand in the automotive, aerospace, telecommunications, professional services, and information technology sectors. Meanwhile, creative skills will be sought after in fields like insurance management, pension funds, education and training, healthcare, real estate, and consumer goods.
Environmental management skills will be particularly needed in the energy sector, including jobs in oil and gas, chemicals, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and mining industries.
However, there are also jobs expected to disappear due to technological advancements. The most affected jobs are typically in the service sector. Cashiers and ticket attendants are predicted to decrease by nearly 15%, while administrative assistants and executive secretaries are expected to decline by over 5%.
Other jobs that are likely to be displaced by technology include building managers, housekeepers, printing and trade workers, accountants, and transportation officers.
