DIGIVESTASI - Minister of Investment and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Rosan Roeslani, announced that investment realization in the third quarter of 2024 reached IDR 431.5 trillion, marking an annual growth of 15.3% year-on-year (YoY). However, what about the total investment achievements during the 10-year leadership of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin?
"Over the last decade, total investment realized during the 2014-2019 period reached IDR 3,294.3 trillion. Meanwhile, during the 2019-2024 period, it reached IDR 5,823.1 trillion. In total, the investment over the 10 years amounted to IDR 9,117.4 trillion," Rosan revealed during a press conference on Tuesday (15/10/2024).
He added that investment growth in Indonesia has been very stable and significantly increasing. According to him, both domestic and foreign investors' confidence has been rising due to Indonesia’s success in maintaining economic and political stability.
"Investment is a long-term commitment. Therefore, Indonesia's stability and peace are critical factors that boost investors' confidence in investing their capital here," he continued.
Rosan also emphasized that the government has consistently carried out policy reforms to enhance the country’s investment appeal, including simplifying licensing processes and regulations. One key reform was the implementation of the Omnibus Law in 2020-2021, which had a positive impact, especially in job creation and promoting industrial downstreaming.
According to BKPM data, over the past decade, the manufacturing sector has been the largest recipient of investment, outpacing the primary and tertiary sectors. This sector has grown at an average annual rate of 15.5%.
In terms of regional distribution, there have been notable changes. In 2014, the majority of investments were concentrated in Java, accounting for 56.9%, while outside Java received 43.1%. However, by 2023, this balance had shifted, with investment outside Java rising to 51.5% and in Java declining to 48.5%.
