The Indonesia Stock Exchange Composite Index (IHSG) continued to edge closer to the 7,000 mark in today’s trading session on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. As of 10:34 AM WIB, the index had climbed by 0.67% to reach 6,944.61. Trading activity was relatively bustling, with a total transaction value of Rp 5.68 trillion, involving 9.7 billion shares exchanged in 608,692 trades.

This upward movement extends the IHSG’s ongoing rally, marking its eighth consecutive trading day of gains. In the past 18 trading sessions, the index has only ended in the red twice. Since the close of trading on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, the IHSG has surged by 16%.

Throughout April 2025, the IHSG recorded an increase of 3.93%, closing the month at 6,766.8 on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

According to Refinitiv data, several stocks drew intense investor interest. ANTM led the pack with the highest transaction value at Rp 839.2 billion, followed by PTRO at Rp 223.67 billion and BMRI at Rp 221.4 billion.

These high transaction values were accompanied by positive price movements. ANTM rose by 5.51% to 2,680, PTRO increased 5.08% to 3,100, while BMRI experienced a slight dip to 4,980.

Meanwhile, today’s movement in the domestic financial markets is being influenced by external sentiment, particularly from the United States, as investors await the outcome of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting held Tuesday and Wednesday U.S. time, or Wednesday night to early Thursday morning Indonesian time. Commodity price fluctuations are also playing a role in driving the market.

Gold prices surged again during Tuesday’s trading session (May 6, 2025), closing up 2.91% at US$ 3,430.83 per troy ounce, returning above the US$ 3,400 level.

The precious metal has soared nearly 6% over the past two days. However, on Wednesday (May 7, 2025) at 5:45 AM WIB, gold prices dropped by 1%, settling at US$ 3,395 per troy ounce.
