DIGIVESTASI - Jakarta Governor Candidate number 1, Ridwan Kamil, is committed to promoting Jakarta to attract investors to invest in the capital city. In a meeting with United Fighting Entrepreneurs in the SCBD area, South Jakarta, Sunday (13/10/2024), Ridwan Kamil highlighted his work during his tenure as Governor of West Java as proof of his ability to bring in investment.
RK emphasized that he always adheres to the principle that sustenance must be picked up, not waited for. “My task now is to increase employment and investment. When I was governor of the next province, West Java for five years was always ranked first in terms of investment, because I believe sustenance must be picked up,” said Ridwan Kamil.
He also shared his experience when he managed to get a grant from Japan amounting to Rp 300 billion and investment from South Korea worth Rp 500 billion. “I went to Japan, got a grant of Rp 300 billion. I knocked on the door of Korea, got Rp 500 billion. I can't just sit at City Hall hoping investors will come, I have to pick up the ball,” he explained.
If elected Governor of Jakarta, RK promised to continue to actively approach investors from outside Jakarta to bring investment opportunities to the capital, especially after the move of the national capital to the archipelago, which is estimated to reduce Jakarta's revenue by up to Rp 30 trillion.
RK plans to build new business districts similar to SCBD in several areas of Jakarta, to strengthen Jakarta's position as a global business center. “I have three big ideas. First, we must become a global business center. We will build SCBD-like areas in the north, west, and south of Jakarta,” said RK.
Ridwan Kamil also emphasized that he is ready to act as an investment 'salesman' for Jakarta, with a focus on increasing business centers similar to SCBD throughout the capital city, as well as encouraging the creative economy sector.
“First, I will be Jakarta's salesman. Second, I will expand business centers throughout Jakarta, and then focus on the creative economy,” he concluded.
