The Forward Agriculture Movement of the Indonesian Archipelago is encouraging Indonesian farmers to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) technology with the aim of accelerating the transformation of agriculture towards the achievement of the "Golden Indonesia" vision within ten years. The leader of the Forward Agriculture Movement, Retired General TNI Moeldoko, stated that the younger generation has been actively involved in agricultural transformation efforts over the past two months as a step toward this significant goal.
"Can we achieve the Golden Indonesia in ten years? The question is no longer about its feasibility; the answer is 'Yes.' With collective hard work and the grace of the Almighty, we can attain it. Every Indonesian citizen, regardless of their role, has a vital contribution to make in this movement," said Moeldoko.
The Golden Indonesia vision aspires to position Indonesia as one of the world's largest economies with a per capita income of $30,000 by 2045, when Indonesia celebrates its centenary of independence. Currently, Indonesia's per capita income is far below this target, at approximately $4,580, while strategic partner nations such as Qatar and South Korea have higher per capita incomes.
Moeldoko also noted that several countries, including South Korea, have committed to supporting the transformation of the agricultural sector through the Forward Agriculture Movement. South Korea will provide a fund of $1 billion to establish Net Zero Cities in Indonesia through the Green Digital Economy Platform (GDEP).
GDEP is a digital economic platform that emphasizes technology, innovation, and sustainability. Collaboration between Indonesia and South Korea in the GDEP domain is expected to position Indonesia as a global leader in agricultural technology innovation (Agritech). The primary objective of GDEP is to empower 62 million Indonesian farmers with modern technologies such as AI, Internet of Things (IoT), and Digital Transformation, which are anticipated to double their crop yields and incomes, leading to remarkable prosperity.
Sofia Koswara, the founder of the Forward Agriculture Movement, added that with support from various stakeholders, the movement aims to address domestic food crises. Technology is considered a potent tool in achieving food self-sufficiency. Through Smart Controlled Environment technology, agriculture is no longer dependent on weather conditions. Sofia explained that with the assistance of AI, IoT, and precision technology, crop yields can increase by up to 120 times compared to traditional methods. Additionally, the younger generation plays a crucial role in expediting the transformation of agriculture in Indonesia.
Sofia stated, "I firmly believe that the youth are not just the future; they are the power of today. Their energy, innovation, and determination are the primary drivers of change, and they bring fresh perspectives, new ideas, and a deep commitment to our mission of enhancing food security. Together, we call upon Mr. Moeldoko as the Father of Agricultural Progress to lead this movement, which will tangibly transform the face of Indonesian agriculture."
