Meta Platforms Inc., the parent company of Facebook, is reportedly planning to build a $200 billion AI infrastructure data center, equivalent to approximately Rp3,280 trillion (exchange rate: Rp16,401). The project aims to create next-generation computing systems to support the development of advanced AI models and metaverse infrastructure.
According to Reuters on Wednesday (February 26, 2025), this massive initiative will involve millions of specialized AI chips and the construction of data centers in multiple locations. With this ambitious investment, Meta is looking to compete with Google and Microsoft, both of which have been aggressively advancing their AI technology.
Meta has not yet commented on the report. However, CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously outlined his long-term vision for large-scale AI infrastructure, with completion expected in phases by 2030.
Meanwhile, Channel Asia reports that this project will be one of the largest technology infrastructure investments in Meta’s history, focusing on enhancing computational capacity for generative AI and large-scale machine learning models.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai has emphasized that 2025 will be a critical year for artificial intelligence development. According to a TechCrunch report on Sunday (December 29, 2024), Pichai believes that accelerating AI innovation is essential to maintaining Google’s competitive edge in an increasingly fierce market.
One of Google’s top priorities is the development of its new AI model, Gemini, which is expected to strengthen the company's position in cutting-edge technology. Pichai acknowledges that Google needs to catch up with its competitors in AI, but he remains confident that Gemini has strong momentum to become a leading AI innovation.
