MSMEs Complain About Seller Center, Tokopedia & TikTok Shop Finally Respond!

Tokopedia and TikTok E-commerce have responded to complaints raised by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) regarding the newly launched seller center service. This seller center marks a step forward in the integration between Tokopedia and TikTok Shop.

 

Aditia Grasio Nelwan, Head of Communication at Tokopedia and TikTok E-commerce, explained that the new seller center is designed to help business owners manage, monitor, and operate their online stores and products sold across both Tokopedia and TikTok Shop more efficiently.

 

He believes the new seller center eliminates the need for business owners to manage sales performance on two separate platforms. Now, everything can be accessed through a single integrated seller center, namely TikTok Shop’s seller center.

 

“For example, I own a shop selling batik on both TikTok Shop and Tokopedia. Previously, I had to open two seller centers—Tokopedia and TikTok—to track my sales. But now, I can monitor everything from just one platform,” Aditia stated at Tokopedia’s office in Jakarta on Thursday, June 19, 2025.

 

He emphasized that the new seller center does not restrict sellers from operating on both platforms. Instead, it's meant to streamline their business operations. He also acknowledged that the transition process may require some adaptation time for sellers.

 

“Once they enter the seller center, it’s up to the sellers themselves. They can choose whether to operate both platforms simultaneously or just start with Tokopedia first. Each seller has their own strategy, and we respect that,” he said.

 

However, Aditia noted that the previous Tokopedia seller center will gradually lose some of its functionalities. This is intended to encourage sellers to switch to the newly integrated system.

 

“As of June 9, sellers still using the old Tokopedia seller center can still sell and edit their products, but they can no longer advertise or add new products. So for a more complete and convenient selling experience, integration into the new seller center is essential,” he explained.

 

To support this shift, the company is actively conducting training and education programs to help sellers understand and use the new platform effectively.

 

“We host webinars every two weeks to help sellers learn from scratch—how to upload products, how to advertise, how to manage finances, and everything else,” he added.

 

For reference, the integrated Tokopedia-TikTok Shop seller center was developed specifically to help local brands, especially MSMEs, manage their operations more efficiently on both platforms.

 

“Sellers still have the flexibility to choose whether to sell on Tokopedia, TikTok Shop, or both, depending on their business goals,” TikTok stated in its official message.

 

Nonetheless, some sellers have voiced frustration and confusion over the new seller center system. Many feel that the TikTok Shop interface is more complicated than Tokopedia’s former system.

 

“The migration process is confusing. The seller interface is not as simple as Tokopedia’s. And my store already had a great reputation,” wrote Instagram user @eco*****.

 

“I’ve relied on Tokopedia for five years. But with all the recent changes and unclear policies for sellers, I’ve started shifting to Shopee. I’ve also been slowly encouraging my customers to transact through my Shopee store. Thank God, after two months I’ve already become a star seller,” added @re******.
