The Japan Mobility Show 2023 automotive exhibition is not just about displaying concept cars. This event will also showcase impressive technological innovations, one of which is the concept of the steering wheel of the future to be presented by Toyota.
As reported by Global.toyota on Sunday, October 22, 2023, Toyota will introduce a technological innovation called "Neo Steer." The design of this steering wheel is quite different from the conventional car steering wheels we are used to seeing.
Its design resembles a "yoke steer," similar to the steering wheel used in the bZ4X or Lexus RZ BEV for the American market. However, this steering wheel incorporates many more features.
The steering wheel is equipped with levers for acceleration and braking. With such a design, Toyota emphasizes that drivers will have an exceptionally wide field of view.
This, of course, provides extra comfort in terms of more spacious legroom. Additionally, the offered driving position is highly flexible, while entering and exiting the vehicle is smooth.
"With a new concept cockpit inspired by motorcycle handlebars, all functions of the gas and brake pedals have been integrated into the steering wheel," as stated in Toyota's official statement.
With acceleration and braking functions operated through the steering wheel, Toyota ensures that the Neo Steer concept is very driver-friendly, especially for individuals with lower body limitations.
Currently, there is not much known about other functions that the Neo Steer concept will offer. All the details will be revealed by Toyota at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.
