DIGIVESTASI - President Prabowo Plans Major Investments in 2025, Focusing on Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency

The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, revealed plans to attract substantial investments in 2025, with several key programs currently being implemented by the government. Some of these include achieving self-sufficiency in food and energy.

At the National Consolidation Meeting of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) at the Ritz-Carlton, Jakarta, on Thursday (January 16, 2025), Prabowo stated that the government will make significant investments this year, even though there are still projects that have not been disclosed in detail.

In the energy sector, Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s great potential in clean energy, revealing that the country has substantial opportunities to develop comprehensive and sustainable renewable energy.

“Of course, we have a very complete potential for new renewable energy. Indonesia may become one of the countries that will have fully green energy,” Prabowo said.

Meanwhile, regarding food self-sufficiency, Prabowo expressed confidence that this target could be achieved sooner than expected, even before 2028. “We will be surprised, we will achieve food self-sufficiency long before four years from now,” he added.

Prabowo Confident Indonesia’s Economic Growth Can Reach 8 Percent

During the same event, Prabowo also addressed the pessimistic views surrounding Indonesia’s 8 percent economic growth target. Despite doubts from various parties, he remains confident that the target can be met or even exceeded.

Prabowo stated that although he has only been president for three months, he has studied the national economy and feels increasingly optimistic. “I am more confident and sure that we will achieve, and perhaps even exceed, the 8 percent economic growth,” he said.

The president added that although some have belittled this target, he views this as part of a mental weakness in some segments of Indonesia's elites, who lack confidence. According to him, this may be linked to the long history of colonization, which created feelings of inferiority among some people. “This is a trait that needs to be corrected, perhaps because we were colonized for so long, we feel inferior and less courageous,” Prabowo explained.

However, he stated that this situation is beginning to change, with support from the ministers in the Indonesia Maju Cabinet working together to create major surprises in the future.
