Deputy Chair of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Dave Laksono, expressed regret over the United States (US) taking part in launching an attack on Iran amidst the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.
He argued that the US's decision to assist Israel in carrying out strikes against Iran could further escalate tensions and worsen the turmoil currently unfolding in the Middle East.
“Of course, we deeply regret the ongoing military aggression directed at Iran, which poses a serious risk of greater disorder. Such actions could escalate the conflict to a level that dangerously edges toward the possibility of a world war,” Dave stated to Kompas.com on Monday (June 23, 2025).
Reflecting on the situation, the Golkar Party politician urged the Indonesian government to remain active in promoting global peace.
He expressed hope that President Prabowo Subianto and his administration would use international forums to encourage world leaders to prioritize negotiations in resolving conflicts.
“Indonesia maintains strong diplomatic ties, especially following President Prabowo’s recent visits to Singapore and Russia. These visits reflect our country’s close relationships with major world powers,” Dave explained.
“Therefore, we must seize this opportunity to actively voice calls for peace across various international platforms. We must persist in inviting global leaders to engage in dialogue and reach agreements that can lead to lasting peace,” he concluded.
Previously, it was reported that US President Donald Trump had explained the reason behind his country’s military strike on Iran, which took place on Saturday (June 21, 2025).
Trump made this statement during a speech delivered to the American public at the White House at 10:00 AM local time on the same day.
In his speech, Trump announced that the US military had destroyed three of Iran's main nuclear facilities — namely, Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow.
“Not long ago, the US military launched a large-scale precision strike targeting three of the Iranian regime’s major nuclear sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan,” Trump declared, as quoted by Fox News.
